The Islands and The Books

You believe in chaos.

So it exists.

You believe a perfect world is too good to be true.

And so it is.

You believe life is unfair.

So it remains that way.

You're convinced nothing can change.

So it doesn't.

You believe you're a victim of circumstance.

So external circumstances still control your life.

This is the time to put all the healing practices that you've studied, invested in, and worked with, to use. This moment is the reason why you learned them. Ancient healing arts keep us well when life is relatively normal, but they are essential in moments of crisis and change. Remember to breathe. Put gratitude front and center. Put care into everything you do. Excess fear, stress, and worry cause harm to your system and your networks. Wash your hands.

Stay home when you can and support those in your community that can't stay home because of work or safety issues. Listen to and learn from folks that have lived with disability and chronic illness. Stay in touch with your loved ones, stay as relaxed as possible, stay in joy whenever and for however long you can.

A jumbo, combo dictionary and thesaurus

had long been my first choice for the book,

if the question was about The One Book.

Now, after decades, I finally realize that

I would still be talking to myself. Still.

… and if you’ve heard me, you’d know.

I now choose a most expansive collection

of quotations. It’s the one hope I have to

be comforted by people smarter than me.
